Length of SAT sections

Hey all, I'm starting to ramp up my SAT study schedule (it's never too early, right?). Here's my question: just how long is each section of the SAT? I want to pace myself properly during practice tests. Thanks!

The SAT switched to a digital format in the spring of 2024, which slightly changed the structure.

For the Reading and Writing sections, you'll be facing two 32-minute modules, totaling to 64 minutes. Across these two sections, there will be 54 questions, which means you have about 71 seconds per question.

As for the Math sections, it's also divided into two modules, but these are 35-minutes long each, which adds up to 70 minutes. You'll be tasked with answering 44 questions in this time, giving you 96 seconds per question, or just a bit over a minute and a half.

The total duration of the digital SAT is 134 minutes to complete 98 questions.

One change to note with the digital format is that you are allowed to use your calculator on both math modules, there isn't a no-calculator section like there was on the old format.

Don't forget, pacing is crucial on the SAT. Using these timings during your practice tests can help you get a feel for the actual exam. I hope this information was useful. Happy studying!
