Extended time ACT duration

Hey, anyone out there familiar with the ACT test? I'm eligible for extended time due to a learning disability and was wondering how long the test takes with the extra time. Thanks.

Sure, I can help with that! When you're approved for extended time on the ACT, you're typically granted time-and-a-half. This means you would have 50% more time than the standard timing. Let's break it down by section:

1. English: Normally 45 minutes, Extended Time: around 68 minutes.

2. Math: Normally 60 minutes, Extended Time: around 90 minutes.

3. Reading: Normally 35 minutes, Extended Time: around 53 minutes.

4. Science: Normally 35 minutes, Extended Time: around 53 minutes.

If you also take the optional Writing section, just add another 30 minutes (typically extended to 60 minutes) after the Science section.

To summarize, the total duration can be around 4 hours and 45 minutes for the ACT without Writing and 5 hours and 45 minutes with the Writing. But remember to add any breaks between sections (normally you get one 10 minute break after the Math section and one 5 minute break before the Writing section if you're taking it). This doesn't include check-in time at the beginning of the test.

It's also important to note that ACT Extended Time Testing doesn't dictate the order of sections (meaning, you can decide the order to take the sections) and you can take a break when you personally need it, it's not scheduled like for standard time test takers. Make sure you have a strategy to best leverage this flexibility to maximize your performance.

Good luck on your test!
