Total Points on the SAT?

Yoo! I got a pretty straightforward query - How many points are possible on the SAT? Also, how's the scoring breakdown per section? All info would be helpful.

Hey there! The highest possible score on the SAT is 1600 points. This is broken down into two sections, Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW), and each section is worth up to 800 points. So, the overall score is a sum of your Math section score and your ERW section score.

Now, let's talk about the individual sections.

For the ERW section, you actually have two sub-sections: Reading and Writing & Language. Your scores on these sub-sections - which are based on the number of questions you get right - get combined and then converted into a scaled score, ranging from 200 to 800.

As for the Math section, remember it's fully calculator-use permitted on the SAT now. Similar to the ERW, your Math score is based on the number of correct answers you give and then this is also converted into a scaled score in the 200-800 point range.

Your final SAT score, again, is just the sum of these scaled Math and scaled ERW scores. Hope that helps!
