Need advice on SAT scoring strategies

Hey everyone, so I'm starting to study for the SAT, and I was wondering if you guys have any tips or strategies on how to score well? Also, what resources did you find most helpful while studying?

Sure thing! Here are some of the strategies that you might find useful for SAT preparation:

1. Know the Test Structure: Familiarize yourself with the different sections of the SAT and what they require. Since Spring 2024, the SAT is divided into two sections: Reading/Writing and Math. Each part is split into two 32-minute modules for Reading and Writing, and two 35-minute modules for Math.

2. Understand the Question Types: Identify the various types of questions that appear in each section and understand the best way to approach and solve them.

3. Use Process of Elimination (POE): In many cases, it could be faster to eliminate wrong answers than trying to directly solve the question. Take advantage of the fact that the correct answer is one of the options.

As for math:

1. Time Management: Be aware of the time limit for each section. You will have roughly a minute and a half to answer each math question. If you find yourself taking too long on a question, remember, it's okay to move on and return to it later if time allows.

2. Calculator Usage: Don't forget that you're allowed to use a calculator for all of the Math sections. It's essential, however, not to become overly dependent on it. Use it when necessary but practice doing mental math and simple calculations by hand to save time.

As for resources, College Board has tons of free material on their website including practice tests. In addition, the Bluebook™ app allows you to preview the digital SAT and take a full-length practice test. Other than that, Khan Academy also offers free SAT prep.

Remember, consistent practice is key- it's better to study a little bit each day rather than cramming. Start your preparation early, keep track of your progress, and identify areas where you need to improve. Good luck with your SAT preparation!
