What's the GPA Requirement for Naval Academy?

Hello everyone, aspirant of the Naval Academy here. Does anyone know the average GPA for getting into the Naval Academy? Working on my application and just want to double-check my standing. Thanks!

Hey there! The United States Naval Academy is highly selective, and the rigor of your academic performance plays a significant role in your application. On average, USNA midshipmen have high school GPAs in the range of 3.66 to 4.00, with most students having a GPA above 3.5.

Remember, the Naval Academy also looks at your class rank, which ideally should be in the top 20% of your class.

Furthermore, your High School Profile is an important component. This includes not just your GPA, but also your course rigor - advanced courses like APs hold value as they demonstrate your readiness to take on the academically rigorous environment at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The Academy follows a holistic review process, taking into account not just your academics, but also your extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, interviews, physical fitness assessment, and more. So while maintaining a high GPA is necessary, a diverse portfolio exhibiting leadership traits, athleticism, and civic-mindedness is just as crucial.

Keep in mind that these are averages and some accepted midshipmen fall below this range. So, if your GPA is a bit lower, don't lose hope – make sure the rest of your application is as strong as possible. Good luck!
