Changes in SAT Scoring?

Hey guys! I heard there’s been some changes to how the SAT is scored. Can someone help me out with what's changed recently? Want to make sure I'm prepped right for the big test day. Thanks!

Howdy! It's true, the format and scoring of the SAT has changed quite considerably. As of Spring 2024, the SAT has gone completely digital, but the overall scoring hasn't changed, with the highest possible total score still being 1600.

The test now comprises of two sections: a Reading and Writing section, and a Math section. It consists of two 32-minute modules for Reading and Writing with a total of 54 questions, giving you about 71 seconds per question. For Math, there are two 35-minute modules with 44 questions in total, which translates to about 96 seconds per question. The total time for the digital SAT is 134 minutes, with 98 questions in total.

On another positive note, there's no longer a 'no calculator' section—so you can use your calculator on both Math modules. Also, the SAT no longer has a writing section or essay option. That is, you will not be required to write an essay as part of your SAT.

A key piece of advice in approaching the new SAT is making sure you're comfortable with digital testing and that your test-taking strategies align well with the digital format. For practice, consider using the Bluebook™ app which will let you take a full-length, realistic practice SAT. Good luck with your prep!
