What are the requirements for Harvard University?

Hi friends, I'm currently a junior and starting to seriously think about my dream school - Harvard. I know it is highly competitive, but I'm eager to give it my best shot. Does anyone know their admission requirements like GPA, extracurriculars, etc? Would be really thankful for any insights!

Harvard University is indeed highly selective, but kudos to you for setting high aspirations! Here's a general outline of what they consider in their admissions cycle:

1. Academic Performance: Harvard will be looking at your transcript to see the rigor and performance in your coursework. They want to see high achievement in challenging courses, so strong grades in AP, IB, or honors courses are beneficial. As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, Harvard requires all applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score. While there's no stated GPA requirement, the average GPA for admitted students tends to hover around 4.18.

2. Extracurricular Activities: A strong application to Harvard typically includes robust involvement outside of the classroom, often ranking in the top two Tiers of Extracurriculars. Ideally, you'd have a strong impact and leadership in a few activities, and potentially a high level of achievement (at state, national, or international level) in your intended area of study or "spike".

3. Essays: Through your application essays, Harvard wants to see who you are beyond the numbers. They're interested in your personal stories, perspectives, and how you think. The more articulate, unique, and insightful you are, the better!

4. Recommendations: Harvard requires two teacher recommendations and one from your school counselor. They highlight your character, potential for success, and personal qualities.

5. Transcript and School Report: A school report from your high school and your transcript that includes your courses, grades, and class rank (if provided) will also be required.

6. Interviews: After reviewing your application, Harvard may invite you to conduct an interview. Though not a prominent factor in the decision, it's another opportunity to express your interests and fit for Harvard.

Remember, every part of the application provides an opportunity to exhibit your strengths and ‘fit’ for Harvard. While it can seem daunting, it’s about presenting an authentic picture of who you are. Work hard, stay organized, and good luck!
