Chasing that 1500+ on the SAT, Any Tips?

Hey guys, I've been seriously grinding to try and break into the 1500+ zone on the SAT. Anyone here who's done it willing to share some strategies? Which prep materials did you find the most useful? Any advice on balancing studying for the SAT with school work and extracurriculars?

To achieve a high SAT score, a goal-directed study strategy is advantageous. Consistency is key; try studying for a certain number of hours each day instead of cramming multiple hours in one day. Start by pinpointing your weak areas via careful review of your previous SAT exams or practice tests, and dedicate more prep time to these areas.

Materials-wise, utilize a mix of online resources and traditional textbooks. The College Board offers official SAT practice tests and a partnership with Khan Academy, providing you with ample, authentic problems to work on. They feel very much like the real test and will give you a more accurate prediction of what types of questions you'll see.

Now, when it comes to balancing schoolwork, extracurriculars, and SAT prep, it's all about smart time management. Maximizing your study periods during the day can leave you free time after school.

Try to integrate your SAT prep with your school work, especially for subjects like Math and English where there is overlap. For instance, when you're learning about a topic in classes that's also covered on the SAT, take some time to study the SAT related problems.

As for your extracurriculars, keep in mind that quality matters more than quantity. Being highly committed and achieving in a few areas can be more impressive than spreading yourself thin over several activities. Don't feel compelled to participate in something simply for the sake of buffing your college application. Focus on what genuinely interests you and just do your best in those areas.

Remember, preparing for the SAT isn't about mere memorization, but understanding how to handle each section, strategically answer the questions, and manage your time effectively. Good luck with your studies!
