UTD Requirements?

Greetings fellow students, I've been eyeing the University of Texas at Dallas and was curious about their admission requirements. What kind of GPA and test scores are they looking for? Also, are there any specific courses in high school that they prioritize? I'm aiming for Computer Science if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Hello! To get admitted to the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), you'd typically need to have a pretty strong academic background. According to data on the 2023-2024 application cycle, the average range for admitted students' GPA was 3.7.

Given the competitiveness of the Computer Science program, staying in the upper half of that GPA range would likely improve your chances. It also helps if you have taken rigorous courses in high school such as AP classes, particularly in areas related to your intended major, like AP Calculus or AP Computer Science.

On the standardized test front, UTD is requiring test scores once again for the 2024-2025 application cycle. For reference, the median SAT score for admitted students at UTD was around 1290, while the median ACT score was around 29.

Important to note is that while you are not explicitly required to take certain high school classes for admission, UTD does recommend that all applicants complete the Texas Recommended High School Program (RHSP) or Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA). These programs include 4 years each of English, Math (including Algebra II and Geometry), Science (including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), and Social Studies, alongside 2 years of a foreign language.

Though not official requirements, having a high GPA, strong test scores, and a rigorous high school curriculum will certainly make you a more competitive applicant for the Computer Science program at UTD. Good luck with your application!
