ACT score range for University of Chicago

Hi, all! I've got my junior year ACT scores back and I'm not too sure how to feel. I've always dreamed of going to the University of Chicago, does anyone know what ACT scores they typically look for? Thanks in advance!

Sure, I can certainly help provide some insight on this! The University of Chicago, being a highly selective institution, generally sees high ACT scores among its admitted students. However, something important to be aware of is that the University of Chicago is currently a test optional institution for the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means it doesn't require ACT or SAT scores for its application process.

If you choose to submit your ACT scores, they will be considered as a part of your whole application, but keep in mind the admissions office is looking at many other factors beyond test scores, such as your grades, course rigor, extracurriculars, essays, letters of recommendation, and any additional materials.

That being said, while they don’t explicitly state an ACT minimum, pre-2024 data showed that accepted students typically scored in the top percentiles, with the middle 50% ACT range being around 34-36. Remember, though, range means 25% of accepted students scored above and below that range.

Again, given UChicago's test-optional policy, the decision to submit scores should be based on whether you feel they enhance your application and adequately reflect your academic capabilities. Best of luck with your application!
