Hey everyone! I'm starting to narrow down my choices and was wondering about something - how do the largest American universities (based on enrollment) feel? Is it overwhelming or is there still a sense of community despite the size? If anyone's currently attending a huge uni or even graduated from one, love to hear your perspective!

Speaking from a perspective of working with students attending large universities, I can share that the vibe or atmosphere at these institutions can vary greatly. It's not necessarily better or worse than at a smaller school—it's just different. Since these universities often have a vast array of resources, clubs, and organizations, there are plenty of opportunities to create a smaller "college within a college" feel.

Many students find their home within specific clubs, sports teams, or academic departments, which can make the experience feel much more personal and intimate. So, even though you might be one student among tens of thousands, you can find communities within the larger community that align with your interests and aspirations.

However, large universities can be a bit overwhelming at first, especially for first-year students or those not accustomed to navigating such large spaces. But don't worry, most students acclimate over time and learn to navigate both their physical surroundings and the university's system.

Courses at large universities can also vary in size. While some intro-level classes might be conducted in large lecture halls with hundreds of students, upper-level or specialized classes are often much smaller, which can allow for more personal interaction with professors.
