Help! I’m totally in love with University of Kentucky and am hoping to apply soon. Does anyone know what kind of requirements they have? GPA, test scores, extracurriculars, etc? Thanks!

In order to understand how to boost your chances at gaining admission to the University of Kentucky, it's best to first get an understanding of their statistics and what they look for in an applicant.

The average GPA of admitted students at the University of Kentucky is around 3.6 on a unweighted 4.0 scale. As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, the University of Kentucky is test-optional. However, if you decide to submit scores, the middle 50% range for SAT scores was between 1080-1280 before it became test optional. For the ACT, this range is 21-28.

However, note that test-optional doesn't mean test-blind - if you perform well on these tests, you're encouraged to share your scores as part of your application as it will support your academic readiness. If you do choose to take the SAT or ACT, most students tend to score reasonably above average.

In terms of extracurriculars, there isn't a set number required by University of Kentucky, but involvement outside the classroom can significantly enhance your application. You might want to aim for 2-3 deep involvements, and engaging in any additional extracurriculars to make it 8-10 total, is perfectly fine.

However, keep in mind that it's not about racking up a large quantity of activities - demonstrating focus, leadership, and meaningful impact in the activities you commit to will often be more favorable. Meaning you should not just join clubs, try to assume higher roles in them, showcasing leadership and commitment qualities.

Also remember the University of Kentucky may look favorably upon applicants that demonstrate understanding and enthusiasm for their chosen course of study. This will often be demonstrated via your application essays and possibly via your extracurricular activities. If possible, you should try to tie in your activities and essays to your future academic or professional goals.

Hope this bit of insight shall prove helpful, Good luck with your application!
