Understanding the ACT score bell curve

Does anyone know how the bell curve grading works for ACT scores? I'm assuming a bell curve is used to grade these tests but I would love more information to understand how my score might change based on the performance of others.

Simply put, if you and another student answered the same number and level of questions correctly, but took the ACT on different dates, you would still receive the same score, even if the test you took was considered "more difficult."
