SAT requirements for UTA? Help!

University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is in my top 3 colleges, and as I'm preparing for SATs, I want to set a target score. However, I'm not certain on the 'score' UTA expects or deems competitive. Can anyone shed some light on this? Super grateful for any info!

Texas state schools, including UTA, have what is known as Automatic Admission. This means that if you graduate in the top percentage of your high school class, you will be guaranteed admission. The exact percentage could vary from school to school within the Texas state system; however, if you are in your high school's top ranks, it might be worth looking into this.

Now, on to your question about SAT scores. As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is still test-optional. They have not made any changes to require or not require test scores as part of their admissions process due to the covid-19 pandemic. While this means that you technically don't need an SAT score to apply, providing one can still strengthen your application, particularly if you are trying to demonstrate academic readiness or compete for merit scholarships.

If you choose to submit your SAT score, you'd want to aim for a score that's competitive among admitted students. Admissions officers typically look at the middle 50% SAT score range of admitted students to get a sense of what is competitive. For UTA, that range is around 1060 to 1260.

Again, remember that this is simply an estimate and UTA will review your application holistically, including your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and other unique characteristics you bring to the table. Don’t stress too much about testing – focus on showing UTA that you're a strong, well-rounded student who would contribute to their community in the remaining components of your application!

Also, I would strongly recommend reaching out to the admissions office at UTA. They can provide you with the most accurate and timely information related to their admissions process and SAT score expectations.
