Cal Poly State U Application Worries

Hey guys, I'm thinking of applying to California Polytechnic State University but I'm not entirely sure about what to expect from their application process. Can anyone who has gone through it give me a rundown of what it's like? Is there anything surprise or particularly challenging I should brace myself for?

Sure, I'd be happy to give a brief overview of the application process at Cal Poly. As with many universities, you will fill out an application that includes several sections, the first of which covers basic identification information. Then, you'll move on to the academic history section. This is where you declare your intended program of study and provide a breakdown of your completed coursework.

Keep in mind that for Cal Poly, one thing that's different from many schools is that they do not require or accept essays or letters of recommendation. Therefore, your application will mostly be evaluated based on your academic performance and extracurricular involvement.

Another unique thing about Cal Poly is its approach to extracurriculars. They use an MCA (Multi-Criteria Admission) calculation where they score your extracurriculars depending on the amount of time you spent on them. It's quite detailed and different from most universities, so make sure you read instructions carefully and properly allocate your time spent on each activity correctly.

One important point to remember is that all Cal State schools, including Cal Poly, are test-blind for the 2024-2025 application cycle. So, they will not consider SAT or ACT scores in their decision-making process.

You'll submit your application through the Cal State Apply system. Cal Poly's application filing period is from October 1 to November 30. It is normally recommended to apply as early as possible in the filing period. Good luck with the process, and if you have any specific queries, do not hesitate to ask!
