GPA needed for Washington University?

I was just wondering what GPA you generally need to have to get accepted into Washington University. I haven't been able to find a concrete number. Any help would be appreciated!

In terms of GPA, Washington University in St. Louis is quite competitive with the average GPA of incoming freshmen being around 3.9. But remember, this is an average, which means plenty of accepted students have GPAs that fall above and below this benchmark.

It's also important to understand that highly selective institutions like WashU don’t just look at your GPA—it's just one piece of the puzzle. They firmly believe in a concept known as 'holistic admissions,' where they take into account other aspects of your application. This can include your course rigor, test scores (if you submit them), essays, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, and unique personal circumstances. For example, if you have fewer resources at your high school but have taken the most challenging courses available and have demonstrated leadership and initiative outside of school, that’s generally looked upon more favorably than if you have plenty of resources, but didn’t take advantage of them.

Make sure your application showcases what makes you unique, your interests and passions inside and outside the classroom, and how you've overcome any obstacles that have come your way. These attributes will be much more important in the long run than a single digit number on your transcript. So, aim for a high GPA but don’t forget the importance of the other aspects of your application as well!
