Figuring out my GPA for UMN?

Anyone know how to calculate GPA for University of Minnesota? Their scale might be a bit different from what I'm used to. Any tips or tools that could help me figure this out?

Actually, when it comes to measuring GPA, most universities, including the University of Minnesota (UMN), rely on a universal 4.0 scale. This means that an A+, A, or A- counts as a 4.0, a B+ counts as a 3.3, a B counts as a 3.0, and so forth. Hence, to calculate your GPA on a 4.0 scale, you need to assign equivalent values to your grades based on the scale and then take an average.

Here's the grade point value guide commonly used:

- A: 4.0

- A-: 3.7

- B+: 3.3

- B: 3.0

- B-: 2.7

- C+: 2.3

- C: 2.0

- C-: 1.7

- D+: 1.3

- D: 1.0

- D-: 0.7

- F: 0.0

You would use this structure to replace your letter grades with these values, tally them, and then divide by the number of classes to get your GPA.

However, if your high school uses a different GPA scale, such as weighted or unweighted, the university might recalculate it according to their preferred version. Weighted GPAs account for AP, IB, and Honors classes, while Unweighted GPAs do not. It's a good idea to confirm which one UMN uses, and you can also reach out to the admissions department for specifics pertaining to how they handle this aspect of the application.
