MIT Standardized Test Requirements

Hey folks, I'm planning on applying to MIT next year and I'm a bit confused about their standardized test requirements. What SAT or ACT scores are they looking for? And are there any subject tests that I should be considering? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

MIT has set particular standards for the SAT and ACT scores, although they emphasize that there are no cut-off grades. A high score won't guarantee your admission, nor will a slightly lower score disqualify you.

Regarding the SAT, the middle 50% range of accepted students' Math scores for 2024 was 780-800, and the range for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing was 740-780. That means that most admitted students' scores fell within these intervals. But keep in mind several students also earned scores below this range.

For the ACT, the middle 50% Composite score range in 2024 was between 34 and 36. Just like the SAT, these figures are averages, not cut-offs.

Remember, these tests are just one piece of your application. While they’re important, factors like your extracurricular activities, essays, letters of recommendation, and academic performance, will also play a key role in your application.
