Air Force Academy ACT Scores - What's good enough?

Hey everyone, I'm seriously considering applying to the Air Force Academy and I'm trying to figure out what ACT score range I should be aiming for. Does anyone here have any insights?

When considering the competitiveness of a candidate's ACT score for admission into the Air Force Academy, it's helpful to look at the middle 50% range. The middle 50% ACT composite scores of admitted cadets usually range from around 28 to 33. This means that 25% of cadets scored below 28, and 25% scored above 33.

Please remember while this score can increase your chances of admission, an ACT score in this range doesn't guarantee admission, nor does a score outside of this range eliminate your chances. The Air Force Academy uses a whole-person approach when selecting candidates, taking into account leadership potential, physical aptitude, character, and academic achievements. These components are assessed through different methods such as your application, interview, and teacher evaluations.

Your grades and course rigor in high school also matter. The academy values candidates who have pursued a rigorous high school curriculum, particularly in math and science courses.

Lastly, while an excellent ACT score will certainly boost your application, you should also consider the leadership experiences (extracurriculars, sports, community service) that you can bring to the table. The academy is interested in candidates who can demonstrate leadership potential in their activities and roles.

So, while aiming for a strong ACT score is important, remember to balance this aspect of your application with the others as well to increase your chances of acceptance into the Air Force Academy. Good luck!
