What GPA does UNCW usually look for?

Hi there, I'm considering University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) and I wonder what GPA they're looking for. I can't find clear info online, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance!

In terms of GPA, UNC Wilmington typically admits students who have a high school GPA of around 3.8-4.43. The reason for the range is because admissions is not based solely on GPA, and many other factors are considered in addition to academics.

While GPA plays a significant role in the admissions process, other elements like rigor of coursework, SAT or ACT scores (if submitted, as UNCW is still test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle), extracurricular activities, and personal essays are also taken into account. Therefore, even if your GPA is on the lower end of the stated range, if you bring a strong resume of extracurricular activities, leadership, and essays, you can still be a competitive candidate.

As always, it's best to aim for the highest GPA possible within the realm of your abilities and circumstances. However, keep in mind that GPA is just one of many factors that admissions officers consider when evaluating applications. We encourage you to focus on all aspects of your application, not just GPA!
