NC State Out of State Tuition: Help!

Hey everyone, I'm considering applying to North Carolina State University, but I'm an out-of-state student (hoping to study engineering). Does anyone know how much the out-of-state tuition is? I know it's more costly than in-state, but by how much - does anyone have a rough idea?

While the exact figures can vary year by year due to university decisions and inflation rates, generally, the out-of-state tuition at North Carolina State University is significantly higher than the in-state tuition. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, for undergraduate students, the out-of-state tuition is around $30,000 per year. This compares to an in-state tuition of roughly $9,000 per year.

But please note these are only tuition fees. There will be other costs like room, board, books, and personal expenses which are not included in these figures. When you're budgeting for college, you'll have to take these into account too.

On the bright side, you can look into financial aid and scholarship opportunities at NC State, which could help offset some of the extra costs for out-of-state students. It can be beneficial to use NC State's Net Price Calculator to get a more accurate estimate of your expenses, factoring in potential financial aid. Lastly, considering you're looking at studying engineering, NC State has a strong engineering program. Despite the higher cost for out-of-state students, it could very well be a worthwhile investment depending on your career aspirations and other factors.

If you end up applying and want tips on how to maximize your chances of acceptance, I'd check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle NC State's school-specific supplemental essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-north-carolina-state-university-essays/.
