Average GPA for Admission into University of Michigan

Hello everyone! I'm a pretty solid student with mostly A's and a few B's. I was wondering, does anyone know what the average GPA is for students who get accepted into the University of Michigan? And how much weight do they assign to sophomore vs junior year grades? Appreciate the info!

The average GPA of accepted students at the University of Michigan is typically around 3.8-4.0. However, UMich doesn't just look at your GPA in a vacuum -- it takes into account the coursework you've undertaken and the rigor of your classes. So, if you challenged yourself with advanced classes (such as AP or IB), getting some B's might be more acceptable, as it's understood that these classes are more demanding. A strong upward trend might also help, demonstrating resilience and a pattern of improvement.

Regarding sophomore vs. junior year grades, UMich, like many other universities, tends to emphasize your junior year grades more, as they are viewed as a more accurate reflection of your current academic ability and are seen as fairly indicative of how you would perform in your senior year. However, consistent academic performance throughout high school is definitely encouraged. Do your best to maintain or improve your grades moving forward. Good luck!
