Notre Dame vs Boston College - can't decide!

I'm stuck between Notre Dame and Boston College. They both seem great but also really different. Anyone else caught in the same predicament or has any insights to share?

It sounds like you have two excellent options, and coming to a decision is a great problem to have!

When comparing Notre Dame and Boston College, you might want to consider a few key factors:

1. Academic Strengths and Offerings: Both institutions are renowned for their strong undergraduate education, but they do have their certain strengths. For example, Notre Dame is especially known for its programs in Business, Engineering, and Political Science. Boston College shines in areas like Nursing, Education, and Social Work. Consider your academic interests and long-term career goals when evaluating these programs.

2. Campus life and Student Culture: Notre Dame, located in Indiana, offers a more traditional college town experience, with a strong community spirit. Boston College, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, is in proximity to downtown Boston, giving access to a vibrant city life alongside campus culture. Additionally, assess whether you prefer BC's Jesuit Catholic tradition or ND's Holy Cross ethos. Both stress community service, albeit from different theological views.

3. Sports and Extracurricular Activities: If you're a sports enthusiast, Notre Dame's Fighting Irish teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and the university is known for its fervent school spirit. Boston College, though also in Division I, may not have the same level of fan intensity.

4. Financial Aid and Costs: Both Notre Dame and Boston College meet 100% of demonstrated financial need, but you should refer to the financial aid package each school has offered to you. The specifics of this may play a significant role in your decision-making process.

5. Alumni Networks: Look into the strength and scope of both schools' alumni networks -- this could be tremendously helpful once you transition into the working world.

Remember, either decision you make will present you with wonderful opportunities for growth, education, and experience. Trust your instincts, and go where you think you'd be happier and more encouraged to thrive. Good luck!
