New York's private colleges and universities?

I've been researching invisible colleges and universities in NYC, there's obviously the big names like NYU and Columbia. Just wanted to put some feelers out, are there other private institutions in New York City that people recommend?

Sure, NYC indeed has many reputable private institutions apart from NYU and Columbia. Some of these colleges and universities have unique focuses and strengths that might align with your interests.

Fordham University is a notable choice. It's a Jesuit institution known for its strong liberal arts programs and for having one of the leading undergraduate business schools in the nation.

Barnard College is another great institution to consider, especially if you identify as a woman. It's a women's liberal arts college affiliated with Columbia University, so students at Barnard have access to Columbia's resources and classes — a major perk!

The Juilliard School could be a good fit if you're interested in performing arts. It's one of the most illustrious performing arts conservatories in the world.

If you're interested in visual arts and design, you could look into Parsons School of Design. It's a part of The New School, which also includes Eugene Lang College for liberal arts, and offers a unique pedagogical approach focusing on creativity and innovation.

Cooper Union is another renowned institution, offering an exceptional education in art, architecture, and engineering. It's known for its rigorous academics and its history of full-tuition scholarships for all admitted students, although now they've moved to a sliding scale model.

Please note that each of these schools has a distinct culture and particular strengths, so you should definitely delve deeper into the programs and opportunities at each institution to find the best fit for you!
