Is a 1350 a good SAT score?

Hey y'all, so my score just came in and I got a total of 1350 on my SAT. I'm not exactly sure if this is considered 'good' or not. Can someone hopefully shead some light on this? Thanks in advance!

Understanding the context of an SAT score is critical in determining whether it's "good" or not. Rather than a universal affirmative or negative, the worth of your SAT score (in your case, 1350) can depend heavily on which colleges you're interested in.

The key is to compare your score to the average SAT scores at your prospective schools. These averages are often listed on the schools’ websites or you can search for "[School Name] average SAT score."

As a standalone figure, a 1350 SAT score is solid. It is above the national average, which is usually around 1050-1060. It positions you in approximately the 89th percentile nationally, meaning you scored better than 89% of students who took the same test.

Where you'd like to apply to is where the value of the score becomes more contextual. A 1350 is competitive for many institutions; however, at highly selective colleges, it's often below their average range. For instance, Ivy League schools typically have average SAT scores around the 1450s and higher.

Don't fret however! Many elements come into play with college admissions, not just your SAT score. Academics, extracurriculars, essays, and letters of recommendation all have their roles. Remember, the SAT is only one piece of the puzzle.

Finally, if you're not satisfied with your score, you have the option to take the test again. Many students take the SAT multiple times, and colleges generally consider your highest score. Good luck!
