CSU Long Beach Application Experience

Yo guys! Who's applied to California State University, Long Beach here? I want to understand the process a little bit better. How was the application? Any essays, interviews, or extra stuff?

Hello! I'd be happy to provide some insight into the application process for California State University, Long Beach (CSU Long Beach).

The application is submitted through the Cal State Apply platform, which is used by all the California State Universities. Cal State Apply is essentially a common application for all of the CSU schools, and when you fill out the application, you can choose which schools you want to send it to. You'll need to input information about your academic history, your family's educational background, and your California residency status if applicable.

As for essays, no, CSU Long Beach does not require you to submit an essay or personal statement as part of the application. This is true for all CSU schools.

No interviews are required or offered either. Admissions decisions are made based primarily on your high school grades and the rigor of your course schedule. They don't take into account letters of recommendation, essays, or interviews.

As for any "extra stuff", you may be asked to report your extracurricular activities, but similar to your coursework, the focus is more on the quality and less on the quantity. They are interested in knowing your commitment level, any leadership roles you held, and significant accomplishments rather than the number of activities you participated in. If you have some Tier 1 or Tier 2 extracurricular activities, those could potentially give your application a boost.

Do also bear in mind that CSU Long Beach is test-blind for the 2024-2025 application cycle, meaning they do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all in their admissions process.

Remember to double-check all of the information within your application to ensure it's accurate and complete before submitting it. Good luck!
