Required GPA for University of Michigan Admissions

Yo! I'm aiming for the University of Michigan. I see a lot about test scores but not that much about GPA. What's the minimum GPA they're looking at for applicants? And are there specific course requirements I should be focusing on to boost my GPA? Comments are appreciated!

Hey there! The University of Michigan prefers a high GPA because of its competitiveness. While there is no official "minimum" GPA, applicants should aim for a very strong academic record. Based on information from the university's recent freshman class, the most competitive applicants tend to have GPAs above 3.9 on a 4.0 scale. However, remember that UMich doesn't base acceptance solely on GPA; it also weighs other factors such as the rigor of your academic program, your course selection, and your upward grade trend, among other components of your application.

As for your course selection, it's recommended that you take the most rigorous academic program available at your school and excel in it. For UMich, they specifically appreciate students who have taken 4 years of English, at least 3 years of math and science, at least 2 years of social sciences, and at least 2 years of a foreign language.

Hope this info helps you out!
