What's ROTC like for college students?

Hello, future cadet hopeful here! Anyone doing ROTC in college right now? I'm super curious about what it's like balancing ROTC commitments with regular college course loads and life. Is it super demanding, or do you find it manageable?

Hi there! My son is currently participating in ROTC at his university, and he's shared quite a bit about the experience with me. It definitely requires solid time management skills, but it's very doable with some discipline. He usually has early morning physical training a few times a week, weekly military science classes, and occasional weekend commitments for field training exercises. The regular college coursework is challenging, but ROTC has actually helped him stay organized and prioritize his time effectively. He's also found a close-knit community within ROTC, which has been great for his social life. They all support each other academically and in their ROTC duties. He does say that the time commitment can be demanding, especially when balancing mid-terms or finals, but he finds it rewarding and manageable. Plus, the scholarship aspect has been a huge help financially, and the leadership experience is invaluable. He usually suggests to prospective cadets to be prepared for an early start to the day and a full schedule, but if you're committed and manage your time wisely, it's a very enriching experience!
