AP Seminar exam prep: How do you tackle it?

AP Seminar seems like it’s a whole different beast compared to my other AP classes. Does anyone have tips on how to prepare for the AP Seminar exam? What kind of resources are helpful? Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, the AP Seminar exam does take a different approach to preparation given its focus on skills like research, analysis, and presentation, rather than just content knowledge. For this exam, you'll want to focus on honing your argumentation and collaboration skills. Practice by researching diverse topics and creating presentations to explain your findings and viewpoints. Engage in study groups to discuss and critique each other’s arguments and evidence use. Keep in mind that the College Board website provides a range of resources tailored to AP Seminar, including sample prompts and student responses, which can offer insight into what scorers are looking for.

As far as external resources go, you might find it beneficial to look for books or online resources on critical thinking and research methods. Additionally, if your school offers it, attending any extra help sessions or seminars can be hugely beneficial. Getting feedback on your work from teachers or peers before the exam will help you understand where you need to focus your efforts. Embrace the unconventional nature of this course—it’s an excellent opportunity to develop skills that are widely applicable in college and beyond. Best of luck with your exam!
