ACT and SAT requirements for UGA?

Hi people! I'm trying to figure out what test scores the University of Georgia (UGA) usually asks for. Is there a specific range or average that they tend to accept? Also, does one test have an advantage over the other? Thanks for the help, this process is sorta nerve-wracking.

Hello there! First off, you're doing just fine by seeking information; asking questions is a major part of this process!

The University of Georgia (UGA) does consider SAT and ACT scores as a part of their admissions criteria. While they don't explicitly state a minimum score requirement, you can get a sense of accepted students' profiles by looking at their middle 50% score ranges from the previous admissions cycle. For the 2023 fall class, the middle 50% SAT range was 1230-1410, and the ACT range was 27-32. This means that 25% of accepted students scored below this range, and 25% scored above.

As for which test UGA prefers: in the eyes of UGA admissions officers, they are equal. No advantage is given to students submitting scores from one test over the other. So, you should choose the exam that you are most comfortable with and feel you can perform best on. Practice on both and see which one suits you better!

Don't forget, standardized test scores are just one piece of your application. UGA looks at multiple factors including GPA, rigorous coursework, extracurricular activities, and essays. Having a balanced application is key to building a strong profile.

Hang in there! Remember that while the application process can feel overwhelming at times, you're not alone, and there are always people willing to help. Good luck on your journey into college admissions!
