SAT Requirements for University of Georgia

Hey guys, I'm currently a junior and am considering applying to the University of Georgia next year. Does anyone know what their SAT score requirements are like? I'd love some insight into whether they're hard cut-offs or if there's some wiggle room.

The University of Georgia (UGA) does not use a strict cut-off for SAT scores (and is also test optional). Rather, they conduct a holistic review of applications, so your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, essays, and letters of recommendation are all also vitally important.

However, competitive scores can provide a boost to your application. To give you a sense of the scores generally seen at UGA, the middle 50% SAT range for the UGA Class of 2027 was between 1230 - 1410. That means about half of enrolled students scored within this range, though 25% scored below and 25% scored above. It is important to remember that these scores do not guarantee admission nor do lower scores automatically mean rejection.

Even if your score is slightly below the middle 50% range, your application may still be considered competitively if other parts of your application, such as your essays or involvement in extracurricular activities, are impressive. The best advice is to aim for the highest score you can realistically achieve and ensure the rest of your application components are strong.

Also keep in mind that UGA does superscore the SAT, which means they consider the highest section scores from multiple test dates. It can therefore be beneficial to take the test more than once if you think you can improve in a particular area.

Lastly, as a junior, you still have time to prepare and retake the exam if needed. Best of luck with your application!
