Hello there,

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) offers a plethora of majors across a multitude of disciplines and colleges. The University boasts strong programs in Engineering, Business, and Computer Science among others. Some of the notable colleges within UIUC include:

1. Grainger College of Engineering: All engineering majors fall under this college, such as Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Bioengineering, among others.

2. Gies College of Business: Offers majors like Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, and Information Systems.

3. College of Liberal Arts & Sciences: This college offers a host of majors including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, and more.

4. College of Fine and Applied Arts: Houses majors like Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Music, and Urban Planning.

5. College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences: Offers majors like Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Animal Sciences, Food Science and Human Nutrition.

The level of rigor and competitiveness within these majors varies. Engineering, Computer Science, and Business are highly competitive, and consequently quite rigorous. Their renowned programs consistently rank among top programs nationally, which contributes to the competitiveness.

Keep in mind, competition for admission can be intense, especially for out-of-state and international applicants due to the high demand and limited space. You should be prepared to have high school coursework and extracurricular activities that showcase your aptitude in your chosen major.

It is always advised to discuss your major of choice with an academic advisor or contact the respective department for more specific insight into the program and admission requirements.

Good luck with your research!
