Taking AP Exams as an Independent Learner?

Ok, so here's the thing. I'm really passionate about subjects not offered at my high school, and I'm considering taking some AP exams on my own. Can anyone guide me on how to go about this? Is there a specific process for registering without being enrolled in the class at school?

Hey there! Kudos to you for being so passionate about learning beyond your high school's curriculum! As an independent learner, you can definitely take AP exams. The first step is to contact the AP Services for Students (phone number 888-225-5427 or email apstudents@info.collegeboard.org) to find a local school that is willing to administer exams to outside students. Be sure to reach out early—the deadline for schools to order AP exams is generally in November, so you'll want to get this sorted well in advance of the actual exams in May. Once you find a school that's willing to accommodate you, you'll coordinate with them directly for registration details. They'll also inform you of any registration fees that need to be covered.

Best of luck in your studies!
