Do my high school grades matter for military recruitment?

Hey guys, I'm not sure if college is my next step and have been seriously considering the military. I'm just curious, do they take my high school grades into account or they're more focused on physical aptitude and values? Bit stressed about this.

In the military enlistment process, high school grades are not typically a significant factor like they would be for college admissions. The primary academic requirement for enlisting in the U.S. military is that you have a high school diploma or a GED. However, having a diploma is generally viewed more favorably than a GED.

Equally important, or even more important, is your score on the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). This multi-aptitude test is used to determine your qualification for enlistment. High scores can also open up more job opportunities within the military (called Military Occupational Specialties in the Army, or Ratings in the Navy, for example).

Complementing this, all branches of the military do indeed value physical fitness and moral character. Applicants undergo physical examinations and moral character screenings as part of the enlistment process.

So while your high school grades aren't a key factor, they may reflect your level of discipline and commitment which are important attributes in any military role. Don't stress about your grades too much but do focus some effort on preparing for the ASVAB as it plays a significant role in the enlistment and job selection process.
