Funding for AP Exams in High Schools?

Just out of curiosity, do any of your schools cover the cost of AP exams? I've heard that some schools might pay for them, but I'm not sure how common that is. Would be nice to not have to shell out so much cash in May!

Hi there! I understand your concern about the cost of AP exams, and I'm glad you brought this up. Some high schools do indeed cover the cost of AP exams for their students, but it largely depends on the school's budget and policies. In certain districts, especially those with more resources, the school may pay for all students' exams, whereas others might cover the cost for students who are on free or reduced lunch programs.

Additionally, the College Board offers fee reductions for eligible students, which can bring the cost down significantly. Also, if your school has a partnership with local education foundations or community organizations, they may provide scholarships or grants specifically for this purpose. It's worth checking with your high school counselor to see what sort of financial assistance might be available at your school.

For example, at the high school where I work, we have a fund set aside to help students who may struggle to cover the cost of AP exams. I encourage you to reach out and explore the options you might have!
