Role of military recruiters in high schools?

Hey guys! Recently, I've noticed a military recruiter in our school and I'm kind of curious about it. What's the purpose of having them in high school? Are they there to influence us to join the military right after graduation?

Military recruiters in high schools serve a few different purposes. They're there to provide information and answer any questions you might have about service opportunities, whether that's active duty or in the reserves, and what those commitments would look like.

Rather than trying to 'influence' you to join the military, think of them more as a resource. They can provide details about different branches of the military, potential career paths, training programs, and educational benefits that the military offers, such as the GI Bill, which can pay for college education.

While one of their goals is certainly to find interested students who might consider a career in the military, they're not there to pressure anyone into making a decision. It's all about giving you the information you need to make an informed choice about whether or not military service is a route you want to explore after graduation.

For some students, speaking with a military recruiter might spark interest in a field they hadn't previously considered, or could provide a viable alternative to college. For others, it's just a chance to learn more about the different ways they can serve their country post-high school. Ultimately, the decision is always in the hands of the student.
