What are some recommended military high schools in Alabama?

Hey folks, I'm a junior and I've been considering joining the military after high school. I heard military-based schools could be a great introduction to that lifestyle. I know college isn't for everybody, and I'm leaning towards this other path. I currently live in Alabama and would prefer to go to school close by. Can anyone recommend some top military high schools in Alabama?

Certainly! Specifically for Alabama, there are two prominent military high schools you might want to consider.

The first one is Lyman Ward Military Academy, which is located in Camp Hill, Alabama. As the 7th oldest military preparatory school in the U.S., the academy prepares young men in grades 6-12 for success in life through a structured, military boarding environment. They offer an emphasis on leadership, character, academic excellence, and physical fitness.

The second one is the Marion Military Institute, it's a bit unique because it actually offers a high school completion program as part of its offering too. The Marion Military Institute (MMI), located in Marion, Alabama, is one of the oldest military junior colleges in the nation. Along with their college freshman and sophomore classes, they also offer a Service Academy Program (SAP) for students who aspire to attend a Military Service Academy (West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy)

Both schools are reputable and have been equipping students for potential military roles as well as academic excellence for a long time.

Remember, it's not just about going to a military school. Having an interest in physical activities and a desire to serve and lead will also be essential elements in your journey to the military.

You might want to tour the campuses, speak with staff and students, and research their programs more in depth. This will give you a better understanding of which school is a better fit for your future aspirations. Good luck!
