Calculating GPA for TTU

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of applying to Texas Tech University (TTU). I was wondering, does TTU use a specific GPA calculator or system? Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Texas Tech University (TTU) calculates your GPA in a specific way and they refer to this as your "TTU GPA". It's calculated on a 4.0 scale, just like most other universities.

Here's how they do it: TTU considers all your approved high school core courses, and assigns each grade a value - A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and F=0. Weighted honors courses, AP, IB and dual enrollment courses carry an extra 0.5 point, and AP, IB and dual credit courses carry a full extra point for an A.

Therefore, in a weighted system: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=1, and F=0 for AP, IB and dual credit courses. And in a honors course: A=4.5, B=3.5, C=2.5, D=1.5, and F=0.

The cumulative GPA is then calculated by dividing the sum of all the grade points earned by the total number of course credits attempted.

As always, make sure your high school transcript and grade scale is sent along with your application to ensure accurate GPA calculation.

Good luck with your application to TTU— they'll be lucky to have you!
