Need help with the UC Berkeley GPA calculator

Hi everyone, I am seriously looking at UC Berkeley as a future option, but I'm kind of lost with figuring out my GPA on their specific calculator. Can anyone who's gone through this process provide any advice?

Calculating your GPA for UC Berkeley admissions can typically seem a bit complicated, but let's break it down.

First, you should know that UC Berkeley, like all other UC schools, uses a specific GPA: your A-G courses taken in the 10th and 11th grades. They do not consider 9th grade or senior year grades for this GPA.

To start, you will want to list all your A-G coursework in 10th and 11th grade. This includes language arts, social science, math, science, foreign language, visual and performing arts, and college-prep electives.

Next, assign each course a point value based on the grading scale: A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D = 1 point, and F = 0 points.

If you've taken any Honors level, AP, IB, or CC courses that are UC-approved for extra GPA points, you'd assign an extra point for an A, B, or C grade. Keep in mind though, you can only have up to 8 semesters (or 4 year-long courses) of weighted courses.

Add all of your points together and then divide the sum by the total number of semesters for a course. For year-long courses, each semester is counted separately. For example, if you took Algebra in 10th grade and earned a B both semesters, that course would count as two separate Bs for your GPA calculation.

Remember that for UC Berkeley and other UC schools, the GPA is capped at 4.00 for calculation purposes, even if on your transcript it may be higher due to weighted courses.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
