How Much Does UCLA Charge for In-state Tuition?

Hey everyone, I'm a rising junior from California and I'm pretty interested in UCLA. Since I'm an in-state student, I'm hoping the tuition will be more affordable. Does anyone know the current in-state tuition for UCLA? Is there any possibility for tuitions waivers or notable financial aid options? Thanks, y'all!

Hello!

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the in-state tuition for UCLA is $15,154. But remember, that's just the tuition. When you factor in things like books, supplies, transport, and living expenses, the total cost of attendance (COA) comes to around $42,127 per year for in-state students living on campus. If you're living off-campus but not with family, you could be looking at around $43,161 for the full COA.

As for tuition waivers and financial aid, absolutely! UCLA offers several different types of financial aid. The University of California's Blue and Gold Opportunity plan covers students whose family income is less than $80,000 a year and who qualify for financial aid. They receive enough gift aid (grants and scholarships) to at least fully cover their system-wide tuition and fees.

Don't forget about the FAFSA either. Depending on your family's Student Aid Index (SAI), which took over from the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), you could qualify for a Pell Grant, which can be a substantial help.

If you're looking for specific scholarships, the UCLA Scholarship Resource Center is a good place to start. There are a host of scholarships available for every kind of situation.

Finally, it's absolutely worth checking out the net price calculator (https://admission.ucla.edu/tuition-aid/net-price-calculatoron) to give you a more accurate estimate of what you may end up paying.

I'd advise getting your application in as soon as you can to give you the most options. Good luck!
