UNLV GPA Calculator - How It Works?

Does anyone know how the GPA calculation works for University of Nevada, Las Vegas? I'm working on projecting my GPA.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), like many other universities, uses a four-point grading scale to calculate GPA. Each of your grades is assigned a point value. An A, for instance, is worth 4 points, a B is 3, a C is 2, a D is 1, and an F is 0.

To calculate your GPA, you'd follow this process:

1. Assign a point value to each of your classes based on the grade you received. If you received an A, that class is worth 4 points, B is 3 points, and so forth.

2. Multiply the point value of each class by the number of credits the class is worth. This gives you the total points for that class. So for example, if you received an A (four points) in a three-credit class, you'd calculate 4 (grade points) 3 (credits) = 12 points for that class.

3. Do this for all your classes, and then add all your points together. This gives you the total grade points you've earned.

4. Then, add up the total number of credits you've taken.

5. Divide the total grade points by the total credits.

This quotient is your GPA. For example, if you earned 60 grade points over 20 credits, your GPA would be 60 / 20 = 3.0.

All courses that are graded will count towards your GPA, including failed classes. Pass/fail courses, audited courses, and dropped courses do not count towards the GPA. Also remember that repeated courses, both the initial grade and the grade for the repeated attempt will factor into the GPA calculation.

This method is quite standard, but do be aware that different institutions or programs may calculate GPAs slightly differently, so you might want to double-check with an academic advisor at UNLV to ensure that you're calculating it correctly for your particular situation.
