FSU location

Hey guys, quick question. Where exactly is Florida State University located? I've heard it's a really nice area - what's it like? Would it be easy for someone coming from the Midwest to adjust?

Florida State University (FSU) is located in Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. It's in the northern part of the state, near the border of Georgia, providing a sort of mix of southern charm and college-town vibrancy.

Tallahassee is surrounded by natural beauty—think lush parks and large, canopied roads lined with moss-draped live oak trees. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the city’s numerous parks and green spaces, including the sprawling Apalachicola National Forest. From kayaking to hiking, the opportunities for outdoor adventures are plentiful.

As for urban life, the area boasts a rich cultural landscape with plenty of museums, art galleries, and performance arts venues. There's a robust food scene too, with a variety of eateries to satisfy any palate, and a good mix of local shops and larger retail outlets.

Adjusting from the Midwest, you might find Tallahassee's climate notably different. The region enjoys a subtropical climate, with mild, rather short winters and long, hot, and humid summers. Consider this against what you're used to in the Midwest.

Remember, every transition can have its challenges, but FSU has a welcoming atmosphere, dedicated resources and a diverse student body that can make settling in easier. On top of this, there are several orientations and programs designed to help incoming students adjust to life at FSU. Overall, many students find FSU and Tallahassee to be very inviting and quickly feel at home.
