ACT is good, but SAT not as much - should I bother retaking?

Hi everyone, kinda stressed and could use some advice. My ACT score is pretty solid, but my SAT score isn’t quite there. Do you think it's worth it to retake the SAT to match my ACT score, or do colleges not mind much about the difference as long as one is high?

Hello there! It's quite common for students to excel more on one test than the other, and that's perfectly okay. Since most colleges allow you to submit scores from either the SAT or ACT, and typically do not require you to submit both, a strong ACT score can certainly stand on its own. If your ACT score is already competitive for the schools you're targeting, it might not be necessary to retake the SAT. However, if you feel that you could significantly improve your SAT score with some additional preparation and it won't interfere with your other responsibilities or cause undue stress, then it could potentially strengthen your application to have two strong scores to submit. It's also worthwhile to consider your time investment: would it be better spent on improving your SAT score or on other aspects of your application? For example, dedicating time to your essays or extracurriculars could be more beneficial in some cases. Best of luck with your decision and your college applications!
