Hi all, I want to apply to Ohio State University but I'm not sure about their ACT requirements. I know scores aren't everything, but I just want to be prepared. Does anyone know what they are looking for?
Ohio State University (OSU) is currently test-option through the 2025-26 academic year. Ohio State University currently doesn't have a specific ACT score threshold for admission, since they review applications holistically. This means your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and other factors will all carry weight in the admissions process.
But to give you an idea, as of the previous admissions cycle, the middle 50% of admitted students had ACT scores between 29 and 34, composite. This range doesn't define cut-off scores, but it gives you a ballpark figure of what most accepted students score. If your score falls within or above this range, it will likely be competitive for Ohio State.
Keep in mind that if your ACT score is below this range, it doesn't automatically mean you won't get in. It just means the rest of your application needs to be strong to compensate for a lower ACT score. This could include strong grades in challenging courses, meaningful involvement in extracurricular activities, compelling essays, etc.
Remember, while testing is an important part of your application, schools will review your application as a whole picture - including essays, recommendation letters, and extracurricular involvement, so be sure to dedicate time and effort to those aspects of your application as well. Good luck!
