This might be a silly question, but how do you go about sending a recommendation request to someone through the Common App? I've lined up a couple of people who agreed to write me recommendations but I'm not quite sure where to direct them on the app. Help!
No question is silly when it comes to navigating college applications! To send a recommendation request through the Common App, first, log in to your account. Head over to the 'My Colleges' tab, and select a college you're applying to. Within that college's section, click on 'Recommenders and FERPA.' You’ll have to complete the FERPA Release Authorization first. Once that’s done, you can start inviting recommenders. There's a section where you can add their names and email addresses. Be sure to choose the correct type of recommender (teacher, counselor, etc.), as they have different roles in your application.
After you input their details, each recommender will receive an email from Common App with instructions on how to proceed. Also, it's a good idea to give your recommenders a heads-up that they'll be receiving an email from the Common App so it doesn’t go unnoticed in their inbox.
