Hi guys, I'm trying to enter my test scores in the Common App and I'm not sure if I should put my SAT superscore or just the highest single test date score. Any advice?
Hello there! I understand the confusion around inputting test scores. The Common App provides a section for you to list all of your SAT scores by test date and then allows you to enter your highest individual EBRW (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) and Math scores, even if they’re from different test dates. This is essentially where you can self-report your superscore. Many colleges that superscore look at your highest section scores across all dates, so don’t hesitate to list your best performances.
If, however, you’re applying to a college that does not superscore the SAT, they will consider your highest score from a single test date. Make sure you check each institution’s testing policy to determine their stance on superscoring and report accordingly. If a college does superscore, you’re giving them a more reflective representation of your best work by reporting your highest section scores. An example of this would be if you scored a 650 EBRW and 700 Math on the first SAT and 700 EBRW and 650 Math on the second try; you'd report a 700 for both sections to schools that superscore. Best of luck with your applications!
