Diversity at UCLA

Hey everyone, I've always dreamt of studying at UCLA. Before applying though, I want to be sure that it's a diverse and inclusive environment. Can somebody tell me about the student diversity at UCLA like ethnicity, major choices etc.?

Absolutely! UCLA is highly diverse in many different aspects including ethnicity, variety of academic choice, and more. UCLA has students from all corners of the globe, resulting in a rich tapestry of cultures. It's often one of the leading aspects highlighted by the college due to its pride in fostering an environment with diverse beliefs, backgrounds, and cultures.

In terms of racial and ethnic diversity, the student body is comprised of a variety of identities. For example, according to the latest statistics, roughly 35.1% of undergraduates identify as Asian, 22% as Hispanic or Latino, and 25% as white, with roughly 6.5% identifying as Black/African American. Furthermore, they attract students from all 50 states and from countries all around the globe, enriching their cultural diversity even more.

When it comes to academic diversity, UCLA offers over 141 undergraduate majors from more than a dozen different schools, including the College of Letters and Science, the School of the Arts and Architecture, and the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, to name just a few. This wide array of academic choices ensures that students at UCLA come with diverse academic interests and passions.

Finally, UCLA has also established measures to promote an inclusive environment. They have, for example, multiple programs and centers to support various student communities, including the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, the Cross Cultural Center, and the Students with Dependents program.
