Experience with Colleges in Edmond, Oklahoma?

My family's moving to Edmond, Oklahoma next year, right when I graduate and I’m looking into colleges there. Are there any recommended institutions? Particularly for studying journalism?

Sure, there are a couple of options in and around Edmond, Oklahoma that could be of interest to you.

To start off with Edmond itself, there's the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). UCO offers a Bachelor's in Mass Communication that trains students in journalistic methods and reporting skills across various media platforms. It's a diverse curriculum that could potentially give you a good foundation for a career in journalism.

If you're willing to expand your search to the larger Oklahoma City area, which is not too far from Edmond, we have Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma State University's main campus in Stillwater. Oklahoma City University too provides a Mass Communications degree where journalism is a significant component. Oklahoma State University on the other hand offers a major in Multimedia Journalism through its School of Media & Strategic Communications.

An important thing to keep in mind is that these are just starting points. The best thing to do would be to visit the schools if possible, take a tour of the journalism departments, meet with faculty, and find out how they approach journalism education. You should definitely dive deeper and consider factors such as the school's curriculum, faculty, student organizations, internship opportunities, and on campus newspaper or other media outlets.

You may also want to reach out to current students or alumni on LinkedIn or via the university's alumni network to get a sense of what their experience was like and how the program has helped them in their careers. Considering all this information should help you identify a university that aligns best with your academic goals and career expectations in journalism. Good luck with your decision!
