Need help understanding scores and percentages out of 100

Hey everyone, I'm slightly confused about how to understand scores and percentages out of 100. Can someone explain it in more details? I know it sounds dumb, but I've always been more comfortable with letter grades.

Hey! It's not dumb at all, and I totally understand how being used to one system can make another seem confusing at first. The whole point of a forum like this is to get some clarity on things that might not be so clear at first, right?

Let's talk about scores out of 100. Essentially, this is a percentage-based grading system. A score 'x' out of 100, essentially means that 'x' percent of the total possible points were earned. The closer you are to 100, the higher your grade, because 100 represents the maximum possible score.

In terms of comparing it to a letter grade system, often scores out of 100 are divided into bands that correspond to As, Bs, Cs, and so on. For example, a university may consider 90 and above an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, and so forth. This can vary though, some colleges and universities use different grade boundaries.

I hope this helps give you a clearer idea! Please feel free to ask if you have more questions. I'm sure there are also others in the forum who could share their understanding too.
