Can PSAT scores accurately predict SAT performance?

I just got my PSAT score back and I’m wondering, do these scores usually give a good indication of how I might score on the real SAT? Just trying to set realistic expectations for myself.

Absolutely, the PSAT is designed to be a practice version of the SAT, providing students with an opportunity to experience the format and content of the actual test. However, it's essential to note that PSAT scores might not be a perfect predictor of SAT scores. While they can give you a ballpark idea of how you might perform, the SAT is slightly more challenging, and external factors, such as test anxiety or having a bad day, can influence your scores.

That being said, if you've done well on the PSAT, it's a positive sign! It’s an indicator that you're on the right track. To make the best prediction, you can compare your PSAT score to the SAT score ranges provided by the College Board. This can help you set a realistic target score for the SAT. Just remember to use your PSAT experience to identify areas of strength and target areas for improvement before you sit for the SAT. Prep courses, practice tests, and study guides can enhance your readiness.
